Course Unit Description

This course introduces students to education systems of selected countries. It deals with analysis of aims, value and utility, methodology, factors affecting education systems, issues and problems in Education in the different Education systems. This enables learners to make valid comparison of these education systems with that of his/her own country.

Course Objectives
By the end of the course, learners should be able to;

  • Explain key concepts of comparative education
  • Trace the origin of comparative education
  • Justify the teaching of comparative education to teacher trainees
  • Relate education to National development.
  • Analyzed the issues and challenges facing education systems in an era of change.
  • Compare and contrast Educational systems in a bid to make improvement.

Expected learning out comes

  • Teachers will be able to draw valid comparisons between their own education systems and those of other countries.
